High School Volunteer Service Hours

The Moorestown Community Band is proud to be a multi-generational, non-profit 501(c)(3) all-volunteer concert band. We are dedicated to fostering a lifelong love for music while providing meaningful performance opportunities for musicians of all ages.
As a registered non-profit, we are pleased to offer high school students the opportunity to earn required community service hours through active participation in our ensemble. Volunteering with the band allows students to engage in vital civic service while developing essential life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and leadership—all while building a strong sense of community and belonging through music.

Ways Students Can Earn Hours

To ensure alignment with your specific school's graduation or honor society requirements, we recommend having your service administrator approve these activities in advance. Students can accumulate hours in several ways:
  • Rehearsals: Earn hours by participating in our weekly, two-hour rehearsals playing your primary instrument.
  • Performances: Participate in up to six 90-minute community concerts throughout our September–June season.
  • Music Librarianship: Assist our library team with the distribution, collection, sorting, and organization of sheet music.
  • Logistics & Stage Crew: Help set up and take down equipment, chairs, and music stands before and after rehearsals and concerts.
  • Committee Service: Serve on specialized internal volunteer groups, such as our social or community outreach committees (hours vary).
  • Digital Media & Outreach: Gather video and photo content during events and assist with digital editing for the band’s social media accounts and website.
  • Other Opportunities: Participate in other unique volunteer activities as coordinated or assigned by our Music Director / Conductor, Michelle Gergich.
